I’m honored to take part in the Atlantis Community Experts (ACE) program! The Atlantis ACE program consists of a group of 28 virtualization and storage experts who are actively engaged in the industry and provide guidance to their followers on Atlantis USX Software Defined Storage and HyperScale hyperconverged appliance offerings. The program recognizes the contributions of these 28 IT professionals in developing Atlantis solutions and acting as product evangelists to customers, partners and prospects. To give you some history, Atlantis ILIO was my first foray with Atlantis products at a time when traditional storage was the biggest bottleneck for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. What you backed the VMs with could make or break the user experience. Trust me, I’ve seen many VDI environments outright fail because of this, users simply don’t want to use it. The expensive answer was the throw some very unnecessary types of storage at the problem, but this proved to not be very scalable. ILIO could be used for diskless VDI (my favorite), persistent VDI, and XenApp workloads and was a game changer in this space. It was cost effective and scaled very well. It won a Citrix Ready Best of Synergy Award and a Best of VMworld award for ILIO Diskless VDI. So that’s saying something!

Since then Atlantis released USX which took all the benefits of ILIO but added an array of features as well as a very flexible and scalable management layer that simplified deployments. USX can be used for so many types of workloads across your datacenter, it completely transforms the way any type of storage you own is utilized. SAN, NAS, DAS, Flash, RAM, or even Cloud storage can be optimized and deduped using USX. Additionally the Atlantis HyperScale physical appliances makes deployments even easier by taking USX and marrying it with a certified physical platform from any of the major hardware vendors (HP, Cisco, Dell, Lenovo, or SuperMicro). Total freedom for what fits in your datacenter topology without any of the guess work!

Atlantis recognizes expert members of the virtualization community and their passion for technology and transformative approaches to data center designs. I’m humbled and excited to be part of the ACE program. You can view the list of Atlantis ACE members here: http://community.atlantiscomputing.com/experts
