Bringing the Power of Terraform Automation to Citrix
If you've been waiting for real infrastructure-as-code support for Citrix, the custom Terraform Provider is here. Here's what it does for CVAD and DaaS deployments.

I wrote this piece on the Citrix blog about something I've been pushing for a long time: proper infrastructure-as-code support for Citrix environments. The Citrix custom Terraform Provider is now available, and it changes the game for how we deploy and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS.

If you've been doing Citrix deployments the old way through the GUI, clicking through wizard after wizard, you know how painful that gets at scale. I've been in environments with hundreds of delivery groups and thousands of VDAs where manual provisioning just doesn't cut it anymore. This provider changes that.
Here's what makes it worth looking at:
- Define your entire Citrix environment in declarative HCL code. Machine catalogs, delivery groups, policies, all of it
- Configuration drift detection so you know when someone manually changes something they shouldn't have
- You don't need to be a Citrix API expert. The provider abstracts the complexity
- Works on Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Supports both on-premises CVAD and Citrix DaaS in the cloud
Deployment guides are already available for vSphere, Azure, AWS, and GCP so you can get started regardless of where your VDAs live.
Future support is planned for Workspace Environment Manager and Citrix Provisioning, which will round out the full stack automation story.
If you're already using Terraform for your Azure or AWS infrastructure, adding Citrix to your existing pipelines is straightforward. If you have questions about getting started, drop a comment below.
